History
Tomsklabs was founded in July 2007 in Tomsk, Russia. Tomsk is one of the few Russian cities known for its strong educational base, providing nourishing environment for research and innovation. In the city, there are 6 universities, 2 of them dating back to the 19th century, and 19 colleges. Over last decade Tomsk has also emerged as fast growing IT center, especially strong in the area of digital video and multimedia. Tomsk is one of the 4 cities in Russia, alongside with Moscow, Zelenograd and Sankt Petersburg, to be granted a status of the Special Economic Zone that is meant to provide infrastructure and favorable environment for entrepreneurial activity through a number of tax benefits and other incentives.
While providing access to an extremely strong talent and resource base, Tomsk remains a very cost efficient place for R&D as compared to other Russian cities to the west of the country (e.g. Moscow, Sankt Petersburg), not polluted yet by the presence of big multi-nationals.
Tomsklab R&D team consists of scientists and researches with Ph. D degrees in the field of fundamental and applied mathematics, and software engineers experienced in digital image processing algorithms.
Tomkslab founders have strong track record in the field of digital video, consumer electronics, security and surveillance.
